Garhwal Kingdom was a princely state in north-western Uttarakhand, India, ruled by the Rajput dynasty. It was founded in 888 AD. Later part of the Punjab Hill States Agency of British India, Garhwal Kingdom consisted of the present day Tehri Garhwal district and most of the Uttarkashi district. Garhwal Kingdom acceded to the Union of India in August 1949.
